Cornerstone Care Solutions have recently completed a month-long waterless personal care trial, exclusively using Nilaqua products - and we're thrilled with the results.

The four-week trial took place in a UK nursing home and explored whether waterless personal care could offer a kinder, more dignified alternative to traditional bathing, particularly for residents who find conventional washing distressing, uncomfortable or difficult to tolerate.

Using no-rinse body wash foam, shampoo wraps and soft dry wipes, the team focused on residents living with dementia, frailty, limited mobility and complex health conditions. The article shares three anonymised case studies, each highlighting how waterless care performed in real-life care situations.

Across all three cases, staff saw a clear and consistent benefits. Residents were calmer, showed fewer signs of distress and were more comfrotable during personal care. Care routines were quicker and easier to manage, with less repositioning and reduced physical strain for staff. Importantly, hygiene standards were fully maintained, with no issues around skin condition, odour or infection.

The article also scplores wider considerations for care providers, including dignity, infection prevention, sustainability, staff training and communication with families. Feedback from both staff and relatives was overwhelmingly positive once the benefits were understood.

Overall, the trail showed that waterless personal care can be a practical, compassionate option when traditional bathing isn't right for someone. While it won't replace bathing altogether, it clearly has an important role to place in supporting confort, dignity and wellbeing in everyday care.
