What is Norovirus and How Can We Prevent It?
Norovirus is one of the most common stomach bug in the UK, it can cause diarrhoea and vomiting. It can also be know as the “Winter bug”, because it’s more common in the winter, but you can still catch it any time of the year.

Symptoms of the Norovirus are some common symptoms of any familiar illnesses; projectile vomiting, watery diarrhoea and sudden sickness. Some people can have a slight fever, headaches, painful stomach cramps and aching limbs.
If you have any of these symptoms then it’s best to seek medical advice. Though if you have these symptoms, there are ways to help;
- Adults can take medication to stop the symptom/s that they have to avoid having a risk of Norovirus
- You need plenty of rest
- Stay dehydrated by drinking as many fluids, water is most likely the best to help, aviod drinking fizzy drinks and juices.
- If you feel like eating, eat plain foods, such as rice, bread, pasta and soup
